The Probus Club of
St-Annes-on-the-Sea
President:  Malcolm Dodd

A very warm welcome to the  St Annes-on-the-Sea Probus Club!  We were formed in 1971 and we expected to celebrate our 50th birthday on 25th February 2021.  Unfortunately, coronavirus prevented that happening.

.  We are a member of the National Group of Probus Clubs and have around a hundred members.  Our main aim is to foster friendship between our members and to entertain and educate, with a weekly presentation of about 45 minutes in length.

We meet every Thursday morning from early October until the end of March at the Community Centre in St Annes on Sea.  The door is open from 10:00am for refreshments and general chat and the meeting takes place from 10:30 until about 11:30am.  Freshly made tea, coffee and drinking chocolate (including biscuits) is sold in aid of club funds for 50p a mug.

Every third Thursday, after the meeting, we invite members to get torther for lunch locally; we continue this get-together on third Thursdays during the summer recess to keep in touch.

The Club organises a number of social events throughout the year, the most popular one of which is the annual Christmas Lunch.

Our members mostly live in the St Annes area and come from a wide range of backgrounds, ranging from science and engineering to sales, education, law, insurance and government.  Many of their interests include working for the community and supporting local activities.

The annual subscription is just £15 and the Christmas Lunch is usually around £25 per person.  Members may bring their Ladies or other guests to the Lunch.
