Christmas Lunch |
| A very warm welcome to the St Annes-on-the-Sea Probus
Club! We celebrated our 40th anniversary in February 2011,
as we were formed in 1971. We are a member of the National Group of Probus
Clubs and have around 120 members. Our main aim is to foster friendship
between our members and to entertain and even educate, with a weekly
presentation of about 45 minutes in length. We meet every Thursday morning from early October until the end of March at the Pensioners’ Hall, next to the YMCA, in St Albans Road, St Annes on Sea (otherwise known as Lytham St Annes). The door is open from 10:00am for refreshments and general chat and the meeting takes place from 10:30 until about 11:30am. Freshly made tea, coffee and drinking chocolate is sold in aid of club funds for 50p a cup (including biscuits). Every third Thursday after the meeting we invite members to the nearby Beach Terrace Cafe to have lunch and we continue this get-together on third Thursdays during the summer recess. The Club organises a number of social events throughout the year, the most popular one of which is the annual Christmas Lunch at the Chadwick Hotel Our members almost all live in St Annes and come from a wide range of backgrounds, ranging from science and engineering to sales, education, law and government as well as many others. Many of their interests include working for the community and supporting local activities. The annual subscription is just £12 and the Christmas Lunch is usually around £17 - £18 per person. Members may bring their Ladies or other guests with them to the Lunch. |
