Probus Christmas Lunch 2016 |

Another very successful Christmas Lunch at the Chadwick, and many thanks to all those who took the trouble to let me know how well they thought it had gone. Like last year, we were down slightly yet again on numbers, but we seem to retain a core of those who wouldn't miss it, year on year. Unfortunately this time we had probably a record number of people unable to come because of illness or clashes with other events. We particularly missed Keith Barlow this year, our photographer and creator of the place-name-menus, because Mavis was quite seriously ill in hospital. Very good to be able to report now that she's much better and well on the road to recovery! Our after dinner entertainer was again our Speaker Secretary, Geoff Hayman, this time with a wide selection of Limericks. It soon became evident that we all preferred the more risqué ones! Many thanks to all those who supported the event by being there! Thanks also go to Keith Barlow for the menus, Matthew Willey for being out stand-in photographer in Keith's absence as well as MC and to Mike Bell for managing the money side. And very grateful thanks for our President, Geoff Hayman, for yet again entertaining us afterwards. Cliff Elliott |
