On Thursday 11 August 2022, a group of ten Members left the Probus Meeting Hall in warm and brilliantly sunny weather to travel by minibus to Manchester Airport, to see the Concorde which has been lovingly preserved there.

G-BOAC was built in 1975, was the flagship of the BA fleet and flew with BA for 27 years. Its February 1975.

This aircraft still holds the world ground speed record for a commercial aircraft of 1,488 mph, established in December 1985

The total time this aircraft spent in the air was 22,260 hours (over 2½ years), of which 6,171 hours (10½ months) were supersonic.  It made a total of 7,730 landings.

The last flight of G-BOAC (Heathrow to Manchester) was on 31 October 2003.

Our Probus Club has visited Concorde on 3 April 2009, with a full coach load of about 40 people! For photos of that trip and much more information nabout Concorde, click on the events tab on this website and then on Concorde (at the bottom), or just click here.
